About

Mount Morris School Board member Kaylee Leone is running for reelection after securing a one-year seat on the School Board in 2024.

An experienced higher education administrator and student advocate, Kaylee is passionate about expanding resources for students and families considering higher education, ensuring that Mount Morris students have ample access to STEM programs, and making strides to ensure that all children in the district have the resources they need to reap the benefits of full participation in extracurricular enrichment.

“I hope to complement the fantastic work that the Mount Morris CSD faculty and staff have done with our students and community by increasing access to educational and recreational enrichment programs,“ Kaylee said. “By helping children and teens access and build upon subjects and activities that they are drawn to, we are able to spark confidence and joy in them. That confidence can inspire a child to do wonderful things, and to one day hopefully help to leave this world a better place than they found it”.

Kaylee now adds her year of board experience to her twelve years of experience in higher education, working with students and families from middle and senior high schools, career and technical schools, and colleges and universities. In her most recent roles, Kaylee has served local institutions as a Director of Financial Aid and Vice President of Operations, a Military Program Coordinator and Certifying Official, and Financial Aid Administrator. In these roles Kaylee has helped students and families afford educational costs through scholarships and financial aid packages and has helped to secure millions of dollars in funding through state and federal grants, relief funds, and endowments.

When considering higher education, Kaylee has come to understand the immense impact that early access to resources, guidance, and support has on a student’s career and life. This comprehension has inspired Kaylee’s greatest passion. “I hope to use my experience and insights to show our students and their families how accessible higher education can be, whether that be in the form of colleges, universities, or career and technical schools. I hope to organize outreach events to help take the intimidation factor out of the college admissions process by helping students and families search for scholarships and complete financial aid applications like the FAFSA or CSS Profile”, Kaylee said.

Kaylee, 33, lives in the Village of Mount Morris with her husband, Tyler, and 5th-grade son, Archer. Kaylee currently serves as a clerk for both the Town and Village of Mount Morris. She loves to spend her free time seeing live music and performances, playing board games with her family, and coaching youth soccer.
